Aloe vera (ग्वारपाठा): Aloe vera can be found everywhere. Usually, people grow it in flower pots at their home or in their gardens and farmhouse. Geographically there are many species of the plant which are used for medicinal purposes.


Basic specifications of Aloe vera are: 30-60 cms long, around 10 cms broad, 18 mm thick. The leaves are fleshy, green color, and have soft thorns on the edge. The plant does not have trunk/stem, straight leaves grow out around its root. It is bitter in taste. From the middle of the plant, grows an orange flower. When we cut a leaf of the plant, a wet and sticky fluid comes out which coagulates when cooled down, this fluid is called Kumari-saar.

Aloe vera, a nutrient, has more than 20 minerals.

Health Benefits of Aloe vera Juice- 


  • Aloe vera for Eyes:  Applying pulp of Aloe vera on eyes removes redness, tiredness, itching, and provides coolness. It is also very useful in viral conjunctivitis.

  • Aloe vera for Urinary Problems: Eating a mixture of sugar with Aloe vera pulp can cure problems related to the urinary system such as pain during urinating or itching. 

  • Aloe vera for Abdomen
    • Liver: Consumption of aloe vera juice cures constipation, gastric disorder, swelling stomach, and liver disease.
    • Stomach Ache: Take 10-20 grams of root of the plant and grind it and boil it. Then add some Asafoetida (Hing) with it and then drink it. It will cure your
      stomach ache.
    • Indigestion: Drinking a mixture of 30 ml of Aloe vera juice and 2-3 grams of turmeric powder is beneficial for enlarged spleen (Pleeha vridhi/प्लीहा वृद्धि) and indigestion.
    • Laxative: Mix 2 parts of Aloe vera juice and 1 part of honey and store it in a ceramic pot with a closed top in sunlight for a week. Then filtrate the mixture. Consuming 10-20 ml of the mixture every morning and evening is very beneficial in liver disorder. It also strengthens the liver. Consuming it in the right quantity is very crucial, excess quantity is laxative.

  • Aloe vera for Ears: Grind Aloe vera with water and put 2-2 drops in each ear. This will kill earworms. Boil Aloe vera juice and put 2 drops in the ear opposite to which has pain. It will get you rid of the pain.

  • Aloe vera for Anal: Mix aloe vera pulp with ochre and apply it with a cotton bandage on warts. This will reduce pain and warts will constringe. This is also beneficial in bleeding piles.

  • Aloe vera for Arthritis: Consuming Aloe vera pulp twice a day is beneficial in Arthritis, Make a dough of Wheat flour, Ghee, and Aloe vera pulp, then make chapati of the dough, then grind the chapati and mix it with sugar and ghee. Consuming this mixture will burn your waistline fat and relieve back pain. 

  • Aloe vera for Skin: Applying Aloe vera gel on the face brings glow on the skin and removes marks. 
    • Wounds, Cramps, and Swelling: Applying aloe vera on abscess cures it very soon. Mixing turmeric powder and poppy with aloe vera and applying cures wounds, cramps, and swelling.
    • aloe vera gel or pulp also acts as a good sunscreen. gently apply it over the skin while going out.

  • Other: Drinking 10-20 ml of kwath of root of Aloe vera twice or thrice a day cures fever. Peel one side of the leaf and tie on lumps or corns. It will cure all of them.

  • Diabetes: Consuming a mixture of Neem leaves juice, Giloy extract and Aloe vera pulp is really beneficial for Diabetic patients.
